Nothing energizes a ice cream party like an open bar, no matter how the booze is served.
Last month, chattering Cantabri giants slurped free Rum Raisin and other ice-covered flavors to rejoice the Amazon.com publication of Gus Rancatore's short journal "Ice Cream Man: 25 Years at Toscanini's."
The work is now a taste, to drum up interest in a longer book he and writer Helen Epstein are writing that describes the shifting world of Central Square.

A youngster who was recently injured in a road accident briefly regained perception and asked for ice cream. Hartlepool 12-year-old Angeline Malik was left fighting for her life then an alleged hit-and-run smash.
The High Tunstall pupil was on her own way to see this new baby cousin who lived next to her in Grange Road, Hartlepool, when the accident happened
He said: "She woke up on Thursday night. The first thing she asked was 'could I have a glass of water and could I have some ice-cream.' They fed her the ice cream."
