Carvel is an ice cream franchise owned by FOCUS Brands – Carvel is well-known for its soft serve ice cream, its round Flying Saucer ice cream sandwiches, and its ice cream cakes (including Fudgie the Whale, Hug Me the Bear, and Cookie Puss - only available in the franchised stores). In the franchise stores the cake is made there, frozen solid, decorated and placed in the case to be sold. These stores can also customize their freshly made cakes in a variety of ways, such as flavor changes or putting photo images on cakes. In addition to their franchised locations, FOCUS Brands' Celebration Foods division produces ice cream cakes for supermarket sales. Celebration Foods has distribution reaching over 49 states in close to 9,500 supermarkets, super centers, and club stores.

Mint Chocolate Chip is an ice cream flavor composed of mint ice cream and small chips of mint chocolate. In some cases the liqueur creme de menthe is used to provide the mint flavor, but in most cases peppermint or spearmint flavoring is used. It is usually green , but may be white in "all natural" or "organic" varieties.
Some brands name it Chocolate (or Choco) Chip Mint, Chocolate (or Choco) Mint Chip, Mint 'n Chip, or just Mint Chip. It is also known as Peppermint Bon Bon in some regions of the world, including the American Midwest.
